Because Life Should Be Beautiful

Educational Events

As part of its mission to promote beautification, Columbia Green hosts at least one Educational Event a year that empowers members to make their landscapes more attractive. These programs teach gardening techniques and allow participants to network with other citizens interested in beautifying the Columbia area. Join us in learning what plants thrive in our area, how to best maintain our landscapes, and how to deal with environmental factors that may impact our gardens.

PAST EVENTS
Garden Center hosted a Rain Garden Workshop that taught participants how to attractively capture rainwater that nurtures native plants. These landscaped depressions capture rain from recent storms without creating a permanent pond, thereby protecting our streams from runoff and urban storm water. They also provide valuable habitats for birds, butterflies and other beneficial insects.

Columbia Green and Historic Columbia Foundation, along with Sox & Freeman hosted a People and Trees: Growing Together Through Better Education workshop.   This informative, one-day seminar featured workshops on proper pruning techniques, discovering how you can raise healthier plants and choosing the perfect tree for your needs and how to plant it for maximum growth potential.
