Neighborhoods President's: Grant money available to beautify your neighborhood
Columbia Green is well aware of the need to keep neighborhoods and local communities attractive. Toward this end, we have a Neighborhood Beautification Grant program in which we award up to $3,000 to deserving, like-minded organizations.

Capture a storm and create a rain garden in your own backyard!
Columbia Green will host a Rain Garden Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Woodley's Garden Center on Two Notch Road. The two-hour educational event is designed to teach the basics of capturing rainwater in slight depressions where native plants and flowers can thrive. Rain gardens not only beautify yards, but they also help return rainwater to our groundwater system and reduce pollutants in our streams.

The 2008 Festival of Gardens
More than 350 people, including novice and accomplished gardeners, neighbors, outdoor lovers, Mother's Day celebrants and the frankly curious, visited twelve sites in Columbia's Forest Acres neighborhood. Many were people who drove or walked by these homes on a regular basis and "wanted to know what the rest of the garden looked like."

Columbia Green Spring 2008 Newsletter
There are a multitude of ways to support Columbia Green without ever opening your checkbook. Columbia Green has been a volunteer-driven organization since its inception in 1984. While we have recently hired a part-time administrative aide to help us stay on top of membership renewals and the demanding day-to-day organizational work, the majority of the work done by Columbia Green is handled by a plethora of volunteers, both on and off our 20-member board.

Columbia Choice Awards - A Cityscape
The most beautiful parts of Columbia are to be honored in the annual Columbia Choice Awards for Landscaping and Beautification. Sponsored by City of Columbia Forestry and Beautification, Columbia Tree and Appearance Commission and Columbia Green, the awards are given to individuals, neighborhoods, businesses, developers, and organizations for their efforts to enhance the appearance of Columbia and improve the quality of life in the city.
