Arbor Day planting at Ft. Jackson
Columbia Green participated in the Arbor Day planting event at Ft. Jackson on Dec. 6. Not only was this a meaningful tribute to the men and women serving in the military, but also a wonderful way to celebrate Arbor Day.
This event was cosponsored by Columbia Green, The Richland County Master Gardeners, Richland County Appearance Commission and the Fort Jackson community.
Each tree planted contained the name of a service man or woman on a piece of paper. The event showcased how the Midlands celebrates environmental stewardship, community partnerships and the beauty of trees. Volunteers were invited to help plant 300 trees on historic Hilton Head Parade Grounds. Each Friday, Hilton Field is where 1,000 citizens become soldiers and 3,000 of their friends and families gather from all over the world to celebrate this achievement.
